| Your physician will be a board certified radiation oncologist. This means that he has completed a residency in therapeutic radiology and oncology and has passed certification by the American Board of Radiology. The physician will do an initial consultation, then work with the physics staff to develop a plan which is individualized for the size and location of the cancer. Any side effects that are relative to the radiation will be taken care of by the radiation oncologist while the patient is being treated. Individual treatments are delivered by a radiation therapist. A radiation therapist is a person trained at a certified school of radiation therapy technology.
